Hi WE Friends,

Happy Friday! Checking in to see if we have a shared definition of the “late summer.” Do we agree that it is mid-August through mid-September? And do we agree it feels distinctly different from summer-summer and early-fall? This is how it feels to me, and y’all tell me if you agree:

Late Summer is like the Sunday afternoon to the fall. She steps slowly, but intentionally. You cannot rush her. She knows that change is about to ring her doorbell, and she moves toward the door at her own pace. She moves with the confidence of the auntie that knows her way around a pot of greens. She has patience and a playfulness about her. Late Summer is that girl who has been that girl for a couple decades now, and she’s just been waiting for the rest of us to catch up. She welcomes us in when we do. Can you picture it?

My point is: there is something enchanting about the late summer and I think it is my favorite season. I’ve always thought my favorite season was fall. [I have a family full of teachers, as a teen, fall marked the start of volleyball season, and I embrace change.] But I think there is something specific about the weeks leading up to Labor Day and the weeks after it. In these weeks, I’m taking my time with every delight because I know change is just about to ring my doorbell, too.

If you enjoy the late summer days, too, I’m glad you’re here. Keep scrolling for my late summer hosting tips and my go-to late summer spread.

With Care,
